FOAMS
Our BASF Range of Foams;
Styropor®, Neopor®, Peripor® (EPS) - Expandable polystyrene
containing a blowing agent made by polymerizing styrene monomer and adding
pentane.
Styrodur® C (xEPS) - Green-colored, extruded rigid polystyrene
foam, free of CFCs, HCFCs and HCFs.
Neopolen® P (EPP) is a polypropylene foam material. Its expanded
foam beads are predominantly closed-cell. It is supplied to molders in the form
of loose beads free of blowing agent for processing into a wide variety of foam
moldings.
Neopolen® E (EPE) is a foam material made from cross-linked
polyethylene and is produced in slab form. It is used by processors to make
foamed moldings for a broad range of applications. Foams made from Neopolen® P
and Neopolen® E feature high energy absorption with low weight, good resilience
following static or dynamic loading, and resistance to chemicals.
They are environmentally friendly and can be recycled by a variety
of methods.
Basotect® (MF) - flexible, open-cell foam material made from melamine
resin, a thermoset from the group of aminoplastic resins. The special
combination of the chemical and spatial structure of the material gives rise to
a particularly attractive range of properties; high sound absorption, high heat
resistance, good fireproofing properties, very good flexibility and is very easy
to process. The advantages of the product emerge from the combination of these
different properties.
Ecoflex® - biodegradable, aliphatic aromatic copolyesters. Under certain
conditions, such as those found in compost heaps, Ecoflex® breaks down within
just a few weeks without leaving any residues. In formulations consisting of
thermoplastic starch and biodegradable, synthetic polymers – so-called starch
blends – or as a mono-application in the realm of flexible films, Ecoflex®
offers customers completely biodegradable packaging.
